By now, you know whenever there’s a lapse of entries on my blog, I’m up to something. My absence the past three weeks was due to the fact I went back to school. But it’s not what you’re thinking. I didn’t begin working on my Ph.D. I attended and completed Bartending School! Yours truly is officially a professional mixologist.
Why Bartending School? Well, I love to imbibe. Nothing is better than a well-made drink, so I took it upon myself to learn both the classics and establish a foundation for creating signature drinks of my own. And you can bet my own concoctions will be just a little bit healthier than the standards.
Of course, like any idea worth its salt-rimmed glass, the so-called conscious cocktail has already gone mainstream, but just as there’s room for another Vodka in the marketplace, there will always be room for more virtuous drinks.
How should we celebrate? Let’s toast with a Blood Orange Margarita!
1 oz. Blood Orange Mixer
.25 oz. Blood Orange Bitters
1.5 oz. Premium Tequila
1 slice orange
Drink Recipe Preparation:
- In a cocktail shaker, combine Blood Orange Mixer, Tequila and Blood Orange Bitters with lots of ice.
- Cover and shake vigorously.
- Strain into a margarita glass (or a martini glass or any other specialty glass you may have)
- Garnish with slice of orange.
