I’ve officially started the countdown. There are five months, three weeks and four days left until I hop on my Cervelo and ride my first “Century.” For those of you wondering what that is, it’s a 100-mile bike ride.
On October 25th, I’ll be participating in the Horse Farm Hundred, a 12-year tradition that challenges participants to navigate the hills of Ocala horse country.
While the event will be a first for me and a personal fitness challenge, I’m also participating as a member of Team VetMed, a group of cyclists riding to raise funds for The University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine. The proceeds of our efforts will benefit the College and fund DVM Scholarships.
Riders come from every corner of America to participate, so if you’re thinking about participating, let me know! If not, but you are a biking enthusiast, I’d still love to hear from you, specifically about what you eat when in training or healthy recipes you’d like to share (Words of encouragement are also welcome!).
Stay tuned as I share what I learn on my quest to get into the best shape of my life!
